Future2: Building stronger communities, one grant at a time

Now in its 29th year, the Future2 Foundation, formed by financial services professionals, remains focused on helping communities through grants to support grassroots financial literacy programs.

To date, the Future2 Foundation has provided 181 grants, totalling $1.8 million in funding; including $116,000 in 2024 alone.

Community programs must be nominated by a member of the financial services community, with grants available across four categories – young Australians up to age 25, Australians in need, disadvantaged women, and regional and remote communities.

“It’s a good thing for Future2 that we’re able to get money to regional Australia through these programs,” said Future2 Foundation chair Julie Berry CFP.

“I like it because it gets money out there into the real world.”

Each grant provides up to $15,000 in funding, an increase from the previous limit of $10,000.

Applications for the 2025 grants closed in August, and FAAA members can vote for the people’s choice charity in November at Congress, with the successful applicant receiving a bonus $5,000.

The Future2 Foundation receives strong support from the FAAA through events held during the year – including the Brisbane Metro Community’s Melbourne Cup event, the Sydney Inspire International Women’s Day lunch, the WA, Sydney, Ballarat and SA golf days, the Gold Coast Spring Fling networking event, the Melbourne AFL Grand Final lunch, and Congress.

Corporate sponsors include AIA, VBP, Spark Financial Group, Milford, Self Managed Super Fund Association, and Ensombl.

In June, AIA Australia supported Future2’s national fundraising campaign with an additional $7,500 contribution to MoneyMob Talkabout – a grassroots initiative helping First Nations communities build financial confidence.

Next year, the famous Future2 Hike/Steps Challenge will run from 21 to 28 March, starting on the Great Wall of China. There are eight people already booked in, and they are looking for an additional couple of advisers to join them.

For people who can’t make the trip to China, there will be a fundraising hub on the Future2 website.
